And Other Things
Indie darling Routine has returned with their latest offering, "ROUTINE And Other Things," and it's a mixed bag of whimsy and introspection. The album kicks off with the catchy title track, a bouncy ode to the daily grind that will have you tapping your toes in no time. Routine's signature off-kilter lyrics and infectious melodies are on full display here, showcasing their knack for turning the mundane into the extraordinary. However, as the album progresses, things start to veer off course. Tracks like "Mundane Mondays" and "Tedious Tuesdays" fall flat, failing to capture the same magic as the opening salvo. It feels like Routine is trapped in a creative rut, recycling the same old ideas with diminishing returns. That being said, there are still moments of brilliance scattered throughout the album. "Whimsical Wednesdays" is a charming standout, with its swirling synths and dreamy vocals transporting you to a magical wonderland. And "Freaky Fridays" closes out the album on a high note, with its infectious energy and toe-tapping beats leaving you wanting more. Overall, "ROUTINE And Other Things" is a solid effort from Routine, showcasing their unique blend of indie pop sensibilities and offbeat charm. While it may not reach the heights of their previous releases, there's enough here to keep fans satisfied. Routine may be stuck in a rut, but they're still capable of delivering the occasional burst of brilliance.
