JUDAS PRIEST's "Point of Entry" is like a pint of warm beer at a pub on a rainy day - oddly comforting but ultimately underwhelming. The album kicks off with "Heading Out to the Highway," a high-speed anthem that promises a wild ride ahead. But as the record unfolds, it becomes apparent that this highway is more like a leisurely Sunday drive through the countryside. The band's signature heavy metal sound is present, of course, with wailing guitars and Rob Halford's iconic vocals soaring over the mix. But there's a sense of predictability to the tracks, with few surprises along the way. "Hot Rockin'" and "On the Run" offer up some solid headbanging moments, but they lack the distinctive edge that made JUDAS PRIEST stand out in the first place. Despite its shortcomings, "Point of Entry" has its moments of charm. The ballad "Turning Circles" showcases a softer side of the band, while the epic closing track "Desert Plains" is a haunting and atmospheric journey through the desert. In the end, "Point of Entry" may not be JUDAS PRIEST's most memorable album, but it still has its place in the band's discography.
