Ah, Night Ranger. The band that has managed to make even the most hardened rock critics secretly sing along to "Sister Christian" in their car. With their latest album "7 Wishes," the boys have once again delivered a collection of power anthems and ballads that will have you waving your lighter (or phone, if you're a millennial) in the air. From the opening track, "Seven Wishes," it's clear that Night Ranger are sticking to what they know best - catchy hooks, shredding guitar solos, and lyrics that will make you feel like you're living in 1985 all over again. And if you're looking for a good old-fashioned power ballad, look no further than "Goodbye." It's got all the dramatic key changes and emotional vocals that you could ever want. But it's not all roses and rainbows on "7 Wishes." The band does stumble a bit with tracks like "Faces" and "I Need a Woman," which feel a bit too cheesy even by Night Ranger standards. And the album as a whole does start to drag towards the end, with some filler tracks that don't quite hit the mark. Overall, "7 Wishes" is a solid addition to the Night Ranger discography. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it's a fun, nostalgia-inducing ride that will have you reaching for your leather jacket and hairspray. Just don't blame us if you find yourself belting out "Sister Christian" in the shower for the next week.
