This English course introduces you to some basic vocabulary related to mass media allowing you to report on what's happening in the news. We provide opportunities to read listen to and repeat these new words and phrases helping you improve your English pronunciation. We also include a reading activity that shows you how to use your new vocabulary in the context of mass media and current events. The grammar section of this course reviews the use of direct speech and reminds you of the three formats in which you may write them. We then introduce you to the use and application of indirect speech and the rules governing its structure. We explain how to change direct speech into indirect speech using various verbs adverbs modals and 'wh-' words. The exercises in the 'Student Practice' section are designed to help you revise your reading listening and speaking skills while drawing on the knowledge you have gained from all topics in this course. The downloadable writing task found in this course's 'Resources' section will allow you to write and structure three paragraphs of text into a short news article.
