Choose a 3/2-way valve for a single acting cylinder with a spring return, which requires a single action to extend. After the spring retracts the valve rod, the valve returns to its normal, unactuated position. With spring return actuators, the valves return to their original position as soon as the actuator is released. A pneumatic hand lever valve is used to manually turn on and off an air supply. In a pneumatic system, they can control cylinders and signal other equipment.
