Jürgen Ellwanger 2020 Hebsacker Linnenbrunnen Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry | The Wine Barn (1x75cl)
"The name refers to a little house in the vineyard which has a water spring (Brunnen) under it. The little house (pictured in the main photo at the top of this article) happens to be an official registry office, so you can get married in the vineyard! Felix Ellwanger says that the vineyard always has water, even in the driest summer, and is surrounded by cherry trees (a good sign, I'm told, because cherry trees thrive where there is a lot of underground water).Bit smoky, bacon-kip nose. The fruit takes a while to build through the oak, starting a little musty and musky but it gathers and then floods through. Red-apple skin, hawthorn berries. Elegant and shaped by focused (but not sharp) acidity." Tasted by Tamlyn Currin, wine writer for Jancis Robinson17/20 "Marinated cherry, wet stone, crushed chalk and drying herbs. Highly structured with a powerful concentration nearly more Lemberger than Pinot." Paula Sidore German Wine Specialist for Jancis Robinson (2023) 16 points out of 20 The Hebsacker Linnenbrunnen Spätburgunder originates from a high quality vineyard with VDP.ORTSWEINE classification. Dry wines from these vineyards are known as VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS and are known for their uniquely expressive character that are reflective of their origin. Dark cherry, red in the glass. This Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) has intense aromas of blackberries and cherries on the nose. Full-bodied on the palate with a long finish, this dry red wine has fine notes of herbs and pepper, as well as an elegant tannin structure and delicate roasted aromas. Aged in barriques (oak barrels) for 16-18 months. Alcohol: 13,5% vol. Res. sugar: 2,8 g/l Acidity: 5,5 g/l Drink: 2024-2028
