Based on the much-loved 2014 film, this brand-new musical follows the remarkable alliance between LGBTQ+ activists and striking Welsh miners in 1980s Britain. The production is currently playing to packed houses at the National Theatre, where it has completely sold out. Set in summer 1984, Pride tells the true story of a group of LGBTQ+ activists who decide to support striking miners during the national miners' strike. Led by 24-year-old activist Mark Ashton, the group forms Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), raising money and building a relationship with a small mining community in South Wales. What begins as an unlikely partnership between two very different groups gradually develops into a powerful friendship, as both communities discover that they have more in common than they first imagined. At its heart, Pride is a musical about solidarity, activism and the power of people coming together. It is also a celebration of friendship, community and the unexpected connections that can change people's lives.
