Dönnhoff is a name that makes Riesling fans go weak at the knees. The family have been working in Germany's Nahe valley for generations, and today Cornelius Dönnhoff runs the show. 'Tonschiefer' means slate, the dark, crumbly rock these vines grow in, and you can almost taste it in the glass. The wine is dry (that's what 'trocken' on the label means), with peach, lime and green apple, and a smoky, stony edge. Crisp and pure. Try it with sushi, pork belly or anything with a bit of chilli.
