This is premium cool-climate Pinot Noir crafted with exceptional care and sustainability. Hand-picked in the early morning and fermented in small, open-top tanks with a portion undergoing spontaneous fermentation with native vineyard yeasts, the wine is aged for 15 months in 100% French oak (35% new). Only the top barrels make the final blend. The 340-acre Riverview Vineyard benefits from granitic soils and cool winds, creating a wine of remarkable elegance and complexity. 100% sustainably grown, wind-powered production, and vegan-friendly.. Meet the Producer. Scheid Vineyards is committed to sustainable viticulture, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Riverview Vineyard. The 340-acre estate benefits from granitic soils, cool winds, and diverse microclimates, creating wines with precision, balance, and expressive character.. Production. Grapes are hand-picked in the early morning, carefully destemmed to preserve whole berries, and fermented in small, open-top tanks. Punch-downs are performed three times daily to gently extract colour and tannins. A portion of the must undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native vineyard yeasts, while other lots are inoculated with select Burgundian strains. Following fermentation, the wine is pressed into stainless steel for settling, then aged for 15 months in 100% French oak barrels (35% new). The final blend comprises only the top barrels, ensuring depth, elegance, and complexity.. Tasting Notes. Bright ruby in colour, the wine displays aromas of cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, and currants, with hints of vanilla and warm oak.
