Steam & Oak Ruutu 200 Thermowood Cube Sauna The Ruutu 200 is the compact model in the Ruutu range: the same squared cabin with softly rounded corners, on a footprint of just 200 x 210cm. It is built in 44mm thermowood throughout, benches included, seats four comfortably, and arrives fully assembled. If your garden or patio cannot take a three metre cabin, this is the one to look at. Why the corners are rounded On a conventional cube the roof and the walls meet at hard edges, and every edge is a joint where rain can sit and work its way in. On the Ruutu the roof curves down into the sides, so the shingled roof sheds water over a rounded edge rather than a seam. Inside, the same curve leaves fewer tight corners where air stalls. Glass door as standard, panoramic front as an option Every Ruutu 200 has a tempered glass push through door. Add the panoramic front and the panels either side of the door become tempered, lightly tinted glass too, so the whole front looks out at the garden. Most of the photos here show the cabin with the panoramic front fitted. Tinted glass cuts glare and gives some privacy from outside while the view from inside stays clear. What thermowood actually does Thermowood is timber that has been heat treated at around 200°C rather than chemically preserved. The process breaks down the sugars and resins that fungus feeds on and permanently reduces how much moisture the wood can reabsorb. The practical result outdoors is timber that moves less through wet British winters and resists rot without chemical treatment. On the Ruutu 200 the benches are thermowood as well as the walls, so the whole interior has the same deep honey colour. Choose your heater at checkout Shell only. The complete cabin, you source your own heater. Harvia Cilindro 9kW. The classic Cilindro pillar with its tall column of stones, which gives a soft, rounded steam because water poured on it runs down through the whole stone mass rather than off a shallow tray. HUUM Drop 9kW. The designer heater shaped like a drop of water, winner of a Red Dot design award. A wall mounted heater that still holds a large load of stones for long, gentle steam. Harvia M3 wood fired, with a stainless steel chimney through the roof. The classic Finnish log burning stove. No electrics, no standing charge, and the ritual of building the fire. The insulated chimney is included in this option. Why 9kW suits this cabin Inside, the Ruutu 200 measures 175 x 197cm and 192cm to the ceiling, about 6.6m³ of air. Harvia size heaters on room volume, then add 50% for solid timber walls and roughly 1.2m³ for every square metre of glass, because both soak up heat that an insulated panel would not. That puts this cabin at roughly 11m³ effective with the glass door, and around 13m³ with the panoramic front. Harvia rate the 9kW Cilindro for rooms of 8 to 14m³, so it heats the Ruutu 200 properly without being oversized. We would rather sell you the right heater than the cheapest one. Before you order: your electricity supply The electric heaters are not plug in appliances. The cabin arrives with its internal wiring already installed, so your electrician only needs to bring a supply to it and connect it. For a 9kW heater on three phase that is a 3 x 16A supply. Most UK homes are single phase, where a 9kW Harvia needs a dedicated 50A supply on 10mm² cable, and over a buried run to a garden building that cable size usually needs to go up again for voltage drop. Budget for a qualified electrician and a Part P sign off. The wood fired M3 needs no electrical supply for the heater. Tell us your supply type and main fuse rating when you enquire and we will tell you honestly what will and will not work before you commit.
