Produced at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, which was reopened in 2004 after being silent since 1925. The Kilkerran name (from the Gaelic for Campbeltown) represents the rebirth of whisky making in this historic region. The whisky is aged for 12 years in a combination of 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, then bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration to preserve the full character and mouthfeel.. Tasting Notes. The nose reveals sweet confectionery with Turkish delight, pear drops, and marzipan, along with hints of subtle peat smoke like toasted marshmallows by a campfire. The palate is initially zesty with citrus notes of lemon cheesecake and an oiliness typical of Campbeltown whisky. Peat smoke, leather-bound books, and peppery, spicy notes develop over time, along with sweet sticky toffee pudding. The finish carries the peat smoke through in campfire embers, with sweet hints of pecan pie and butterscotch.. Perfect Serve.
